Nigeria To Experience Annular Eclipse On Sept 1
Nigeria is set to experience an annular eclipse that will be visible all over the country with different degrees of totality on sept1,2016.
Annular solar eclipses have a 'ring of fine' and occurs when the moon moves in front of the sun but doesnot cover the sun's discs completely.
The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) said that the highest degree of obscurity will be in lagos, where it is expected to be 80% obscurity.
The lowest degree of obscurity will be about 45% in Sokoto.
It is expected to occur between 7:15am and 10:30am. NASRDA, however warned that observing the solar eclipse with naked eyes would lead to permanent damage to the eyes as the obstruction doesnot reduce the luminosity of the sun.
